Last Day of School Party!

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR THE SUMMER!!

June 25th was our last day of homeschool for the 2013-2014 year! (I am going to be playing blog catch-up for awhile. I got quite behind the last couple of weeks.) These kids worked hard all year long and we had a great and successful year!

Each year on the last day of school we hang all of our art projects on the walls in the front rooms and make an art gallery. We journal about our favorite parts of the year and then when Daddy gets home, the party begins!

We start by each child doing a presentation of something they have learned. For the last 4 weeks of school this year we concentrated on learning about the 50 states. Each child chose one state to research a little more and then made a poster presentation and presented it along with a song of all 50 states. Mig chose Texas, Selah chose Colorado and Gabe chose Rhode Island.

Selah read a favorite poem from the year, along with an adaptation she and I worked on together entitled, "Mr. Nobody at Our House".

Gabe was enthralled with the story of King Henry VIII and made a Google Presentation (which is like a PowerPoint).

Here is a video of their presentations if you would like to watch.

Once the presentations were over, Daddy (the principal) presented them with their promotion certificates!

Then we ate pizza for dinner and these cute Swiss Roll "diplomas" for dessert.

We are looking forward to a great year next year, too!!
