G.L. Serna - Composer Extraordinaire

If you have been following my blog, you know that Gabe has been composing music for a long time. Last year he sent a beautiful composition to a Young Composer's competition. He did not place, but had very encouraging and complimentary comments from the judges. He has since composed more pieces. He found out that one of our church members is the conductor of the Youth Symphony of Denton. He shared his compositions with him and he loved them so much that he wanted the symphony to perform them.

So, last Friday was the first public performance of any of Gabe's compositions!!

This is one of the symphony members. He wanted Gabe's autograph!!

Gabe was SO excited that his name was listed next to J.S. Bach's!

Mr. Chang - the conductor is so encouraging of Gabe and his talent for composing!

Friends came out to support Gabe.

The piece performed was a Fugue and it was amazing!!!

We are hoping to get a video of the performance soon to share.

In the spring they will be performing a different composition of Gabe's. It is actually the one that he sent to the Young Composer's Competition this year and is a favorite of mine.

We are so excited for Gabe and the talents God has gifted him with.

CCAI Celebrates 30 Years of Love!

This year marked CCAI's 30 year anniversary. CCAI is the Adoption Agency we used for Faith's adoption. They celebrated by having reunions around the country and we were so excited when we found out one of the reunions would be in Plano!!!

We met so many Texas families that have adopted through CCAI.

And Faith made some new forever friends!!

One of the biggest highlights was finally meeting Josh and Lily the founders of CCAI. They are just the sweetest people and treated us all like family!

It was such a neat experience for our family and Faith had the best time getting to know more adoptees! She smiled the whole time and you could tell that the whole celebration meant so much to her!!

October Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Byron's 44th birthday on October 1st with Nicol and Felix.

I made him a delicious Oreo Poke Cake.

We also went to The Colony to a Tacotopia Festival.

There were dancers, mariachi and (of course), tacos!

Mig's birthday was on a Wednesday night and he just wanted to go to youth group. I made him an ice cream cake made with ice cream sandwiches! Easiest birthday cake ever!

On Saturday we celebrated on the Denton Square with dinner at LSA Burger followed by Free Play - an arcade where you pay a flat rate and play as many games as you want! They have a whole wall of pin ball machines, various vintage games and skee ball!

Everyone had SO MUCH fun!!!

Look who is 12!!

I would like to title Mig's 12 year old photo session as "When your kid is way cooler than you."

Mig is still super in to playing bass guitar and plays almost weekly at church. He has even learned some solo bass stuff that really rocks! He loves video games, backyard baseball and junk food. He still would like to go into law enforcement when he grows up and just acquired a book entitled, "How to Become a Police Officer". He is every bit as cool as he looks in these pictures. Thank you, God, for giving us Mig!!
