Texas Civil War Museum

We have been studying the Civil War in History, so it was a perfect time to take a field trip to the Texas Civil War Museum! 

The museum is located in White Settlement and is a GREAT place for a field trip!

They had quite the collection of authentic Civil War relics. 

This is a first copy of Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin:

This display had things from the real Walker Texas Ranger:

The miniature display was really impressive, too!

They also had a collection of Victorian dresses.

And the hat Vivien Leigh wore in Gone with the Wind.

They had items from both the Union and Confederate sides and I learned so much about how Texas was involved in the war. Everyone really enjoyed the museum! 

Kids Praise Christmas Concert

Faith and Mig were both in the Kids Praise Christmas Concert earlier this month at our local mall.

Mig introduced the choir and had a speaking part.

Faith also had a speaking part! 

They both did excellent even though they were battling colds. On the following Monday I took them to the doctor. Faith actually had pneumonia - I would have never known - she didn't complain at all, just had a persistent cough and then a fever. Mig had a sinus infection!! YIKES!! Neither one let sickness get in the way of their performance, though! We took the rest of the week slowly and they are both 100% better now! 

Serna Family time!

The day after Thanksgiving, we were able to spend some time with the Serna extended family! 

This was the first time we were ALL together in a very long time. 

So we had to get some family pictures, of course!

We had a great time eating, talking, and singing around a campfire. It was a great reunion! 

AWANA Camping Trip

We spent the first weekend of November camping with our AWANA group at Lake Ray Roberts.

It was not our best camping experience!! We loved being with friends, but we had a rough time! 

We locked ourselves out of the RV within the first hour.

We were told we could have the RV out there, but there weren't any hook ups. 

Faith had a potty accident.

The next day she took a hard fall and scraped herself up pretty badly. 

We ended up only staying one night...

But the kids loved camping with friends! 

They went hiking and fishing. 

And played for hours on end.

So even though it was rough...we made many great memories!!

Birthday Celebrations

We had fun celebrating our November babies! Gabe wanted to take some of his friends to the movies for his birthday. They saw Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: Crimes of Grindewald and all gave it two thumbs up.

Faith wanted tacos and a rainbow unicorn cupcake party. 

She has been asking for a new bike and wants to learn to ride without training wheels!

 Gabe wanted Hagrid's birthday cake from the first Harry Potter movie:

We took him to Dynasty to celebrate his 13 years. 

He was super happy to get his first electric razor from the grandparents. 

How did he get so big!?!
