Birthday Celebration

I am now in my 30's! Gasp!! We had a fun, quite celebration here at home. Byron and the kids treated me to my favorite restaurant for dinner - Mimi's Cafe - YUM!! Then we headed home to enjoy a gluten and dairy free lemon poke cake. If you are gluten-free, I would highly suggest "The Cake Mix Doctor Bakes Gluten-Free". This was so good and didn't even taste gluten free!

We also did a little redecorating. Byron gave me a slip-cover, area rug and throw pillows for my birthday. They really spruced up the living room!

Here's a before:

and after!

It was a fun birthday with my favorite four people!

Miguel is 6 months Old!

Miguel is now 6 months old. He is such a cutie! He has started to be a little comedian - always trying to get us to smile or laugh. I started him on solids this month - though he hates it when I try to feed him. His hair is starting to come in, and to my surprise, it is blonde! I just wonder how long it will stay that way. He is a blessing and we love having him in our family!

Look how he has grown!

His shirt here pretty much says it all - it was hard to get a shot of him with his monkey this month because he is so squirmy! He wouldn't stay still for anything and I just knew he was going to squirm right off the recliner! So the above is about the best I could do!

Bluebonnet Pictures

Oh, how I missed taking pictures in the Bluebonnets while we were in Colorado! Last year, the bluebonnets weren't very vibrant....and I didn't know where to go here in Fort Worth to find a good patch. This year, our friends, the Dodge's, invited us out to their house for some bluebonnet pictures. They have a very lovely patch of bluebonnets and we had a great time!

Desktop Background

Here is a new desktop background for my mom. It is also just a cute collage of all of her grandkids!

aPriL FoOl's dAy!!

We had a fun backwards dinner for April Fool's Day this year!

Here was our dessert - Hamburger sliders?!?

No! Cupcakes dressed up as hamburgers!

I used my favorite gluten-free yellow cake recipe (http://glutenfreehomemaker.com/2008/12/gluten-free-yellow-cake-recipe/) and cooked it in a muffin pan. Then I split them in half. I cooked Betty Crocker's Gluten Free Brownie Mix in a muffin pan and used these as the hamburgers. Added a little green and red icing for lettuce and ketchup and some sugar crystals on top! Voila! (And Yum-Yum!)

For dinner we had birthday cake?!?

No! Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cherry tomatoes!

For this, just make your favorite meatloaf recipe in a cake pan (if you are using 2 lbs of ground meat, make a double layer cake with bbq sauce or ketchup in the middle). Spread with mashed potatoes (I used instant) and garnish with cherry tomatoes.

The kids LOVED this dinner and ate everything!!
Gotta love April Fool's Day!

Our Newest Family Members!

On Thursday, my sister, Rachel, was admitted into labor and delivery for observation after the doctors found some protein in her urine. By Friday they had decided that it was in the best interest of both Rachel and the babies for them to go ahead and perform a c-section. So on Friday night my new nieces and nephew came into this world.

They are all beautiful and doing well for being born 10 weeks premature. The pictures don't quite do them justice - when you are there in person you can see the beautiful and miraculous life inside of them! I am so proud of Rachel and Will and these precious babies!!
