4th of July Fireworks!

We started our 4th of July with a wonderful church service.

Each year our church choir performs a Salute to  the Armed Forces. Those that have served in the armed forces are asked to stand when their branch's song is sung so that we can honor them. It is always so touching!! Last year, the Salute to the Armed Forces was the first song I sang with the choir!! Here is a video of this year's performance. You might even see me (if you pay close attention).

That evening we had some dear friends over for hot dogs and fireworks!

Celebrating our country is SO MUCH FUN!!

4th of July Parade and Celebration

Since the 4th of July was on a Sunday this year, Denton held it's 4th of July parade and fair on Saturday, July 3rd.

It was unusually cool that morning!

The kids love that they get bags full of candy and prizes!

This police officer was really fun to watch. He would park his motorcycle in a way to shield the little ones from the parade vehicles so that they could gather candy safely. His smile was priceless!

Who knew we had a pet mayor? This float really confuses me. The kid has a "Team Santa" shirt, the float says "Pet Mayor", but it also says, Elvis?

The Denton Spiderman makes appearances all over town. I am not sure that anyone knows who he is.

After the parade we went over to Quakertown Park for the fair.

There was a competition between Byron and a friend of ours to see which dad could stay on the bull the longest. I think Ben may have won...

Though Byron came close!!

Faith thought it was a challenge just to get on the bull.

Mig was a pro!

We had a great time!! It was so nice to have the celebrations again! Last year the were cancelled due to COVID which made this year super special!!
