Surgery - again.

Faith was born with clubbed feet and a condition called arthrogryposis. When she was still in China she had one corrective surgery for her feet. After she had been home for a few months, she had her second and on October 7th she had her 3rd surgery.

She was a trooper. The anesthesia made her super weepy - but she really was so brave.

As soon as she got home, she wanted everyone to sign her casts.

She had a visit from a sweet friend.

And got a few gifts!

By the next day she was challenging GiGi to a walker race - and WON!

She will be in casts until November 19 - the day before her birthday. Since the surgery she has been doing really well. This could be her last foot surgery - but probably not. Clubbed feet really want to be clubbed - so more surgery may follow, though the doctor told us that this surgery won't be an option in the future because of the amount of scar tissue she has. We are so blessed by her hospital and doctors and especially by her brave attitude! She is an inspiration!

International Homeschool Spirit Day

The last week of September is always International Homeschool Spirit Week  - and we love to show off our spirit!!

Monday was pajama day:

Tuesday was Fandom Day:

Selah is a Survivor Super Fan!

On Wednesday we celebrated Super Hero Day.

Thursday was Decade Day. Mig was the 80's, Gabe is a future fashion trend, Selah is the 70's and Faith is representing the 50's.

Friday was a fun day - Video Game Day!

The boys created their own video game shirts.

The girls made Pac-man Ghost outfits!

Then we had fun!!

We've got tons of spirit!! And we are so happy to be homeschoolers!

Byron's project car

For Byron's birthday this year we pulled the Cutlass for a photo shoot! The Cutlass is looking pretty good!

I ordered a set of canvas' for Byron's office for his birthday gift. He loves them!

Field Trip #1 of the 2019-2020 School Year

Our first field trip of the school year was to Sharkarosa Wildlife Center.

Sharkarosa is a rare and endangered interactive wildlife ranch. They promise an up close wildlife experience.

A skunk - but don't worry- she can't spray.

Many animals will eat right out of your hands.

The lemurs are always fun.

Faith loved the petting zoo.

And so did Gabe. He wanted to bring a goat home.

This monkey would go from looking depressed to up and running around his cage like a mad man!

Selah really liked the sloths.

This kangaroo had a joey in it's pouch. We could watch as it would stretch and a long foot would poke out!

Sic 'em, Bear!

Have you ever heard of a Bearcat? Me neither. This is what one looks like. It has a long cat-like tail, too.

One of the best things about Sharkarosa is the Safari Tram ride. They take you out to feed and see many fun animals.

My favorites are the zebra - but they also have a zorse (zebra-horse) and a z-donk (zebra donkey).

The camels are always fun, too!

The last thing we did was a barrel ride!

We all loved our day at Sharkarosa! What a great field trip!
