Couple's Retreat at Pine Cove

Last month Byron and I had the great privilege to be able to attend our Sunday School class's couples retreat. It was held in beautiful East Texas at Pine Cove Camp.

Such beautiful views of Lake Palestine!

We had early morning services in this sweet chapel on the lake both mornings.

There were around 40 couples that made it out to the retreat and each was blessed in a unique and wonderful way!

During the retreat we were able to spend a lot of time being completely focused on each other, our marriage, and the direction we want our family to go. The goal of the weekend was for each couple to come up with a family mission statement and to do so we dug into our family's strengths and weaknesses, abilities and priorities. We found that love for God and love for others was a strong theme in our house along with togetherness and unity.

Our final product came out beautifully. Here is our family mission statement:

Our purpose as a family is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever. We will accomplish this by:
-Loving and serving others
-Valuing compassion and integrity
-demonstrating family unity
-making our home a place of security grounded in Biblical truth
-placing love and respect above all other values

We are so thankful for our church for making this weekend happen and especially for my parents for keeping the kids so that we could attend. It was a beautiful and meaningful weekend and we are so happy we were able to be there!
