Our summer had a rocky start!
On the way to Gabe's graduation ceremony, Byron noticed that his elbow was a little sensitive.
As the ceremony went on it bothered him more and more.
After Gabe's party Byron took some Tylenol, grabbed an icepack and went to bed, hoping it would be better in the morning.
It was not. Early that morning he drove himself to the ER where they kept him that entire day, though the night and finally released him the next morning. Somehow he had developed a stubborn infection.
Well, even after IV antibiotics and oral antibiotics, it did not get better.
So, the next Friday we went back to the ER. This time I went with him - and we went to his hospital instead of the stand alone ER he went to before.
They took one look at him and said, "You are not going to go home. Plan to be here for a few days."
I am SO thankful for Nicol and Felix who literally dropped everything and were up at DFW in just a few hours time to help me juggle the kids and Byron. Mig was leaving on Saturday morning for his Middle School Choir trip, so it was SO helpful!
Byron ended up staying until Monday. He got more IV antibiotics, he developed an allergic reaction, he had imaging done. 2 of his doctors argued about the best treatment. It was crazy!
When he finally got to come home, he left with a PICC line and had to do IV Antibiotics for another 10 days.
Another blessing was that our neighbor is an RN! She was able to come by and check on him while I went on choir tour.
He is totally healthy now. We never figured out what caused his infection. I guess it will always be a mystery!
