On Monday night Mig received the Billy Mitchell Award through Civil Air Patrol!
The General Billy Mitchell Award is a prestigious milestone in the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Cadet Program that marks the completion of Phase II (The Leadership Phase and the entry into the officer phase of leadership). This honor is achieved by only about 15% of all CAP cadets
Our friend, Judge Kimberly McCreary was there to award him!
To qualify for the Mitchell Award, a cadet must sustain excellence across four core areas of cadet life—leadership, aerospace, fitness, and character—by fulfilling the following criteria :Complete First 8 Achievements: Pass all physical, leadership, and aerospace milestones in Phase I and Phase II. Successfully complete a week-long, military-style CAP encampment. Complete a rigorous 100-question comprehensive examination covering leadership theory and aerospace topics.
Earning the Mitchell Award provides significant advantages for cadets looking to advance in CAP, higher education, or the military. Recipients are instantly promoted to the grade of Cadet Second Lieutenant (C/2d Lt), stepping out of the enlisted phase to become cadet officers. If a recipient chooses to enlist in the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, or Coast Guard, they are eligible to enter at an advanced pay grade—starting service as an E-3 (Airman First Class / Private First Class) rather than an E-1. The award grants advanced credit for Air Force ROTC and is highly regarded on applications for the U.S. Air Force Academy and other service academies. It also unlocks eligibility for specialized aviation scholarships and national CAP activities.
Needless to say, we are SO proud of Mig!!!
