On July 6th, Selah turned 11 years old!
On her birthday we had the whole Serna Family over for a mini-reunion. With siblings and children in totally different stages of life, we realized a few years ago that to stay connected as a family, we really need to be intentional on getting together. So, we have started getting together once in the winter and once in the summer.
We had a BBQ lunch.
Then we played some games.
Volleyball...
Horseshoes...
(Nick is a pro!)
And the little kiddos did a craft.
There was a jam session....
And birthday cake of course!
Then we played FISHBOWL.
Everyone put the names of 10 random people and 10 random things written on small slips of paper in a bowl. Then we split up boys vs. girls. One at a time a team member draws a slip of paper and tries to get their team to guess the word without saying the word.
Oh, the things we will do to get our team to guess correctly!!
"Oooby - Dooby, Doo!"
Gabe is so animated - even when it is not his turn!!
Then we took pictures outside.
Littlest cousins:
Cousins:
The whole big beautiful family!
Siblings and spouses:
Siblings. I think they were acting out the phrase, "I smile because you are my sibling. I laugh because there is nothing you can do about it."
I guess they had enough of acting nice and loving....
Nicol and Felix brought a pinata stuffed with fun goodies for the birthday girl!
Gabe got the goodies loose, but everyone enjoyed gathering prizes.
Did you know that pinatas make excellent headdresses, too?
For some reason Bella had been hoping for water balloons. Much to her surprise - we had some already filled and ready for a fight! She was so happy!!!
This one had my name on it.
Hooray for water balloons!!
And when the water balloons were out - they improvised with water bottles making sure everyone got a little wet.
Bella thought it was the most fun ever!
You can tell they are cousins - they have the same noses! Ha!!
It was a great day and so awesome to spend some happy moments together as a big family. Memories were made, for sure!!
