Let's Go Fly a Kite

In the midst of Corona Virus Craziness, flying a kite seems so mundane and serene. Seems like a good time to make a kite flying post to me!

One of our neighbors has a great kite flying field. He also has the great pond that we fish in. We are so blessed that he lets us enjoy his field and pond!!

Nicol and Felix (Byron's sister and brother-in-law) bought the kids this beautiful balloon kite this summer and we have just now gotten it out to fly!

The Clone Trooper had to get out and fly as well.

This winter wasn't really a cold winter, but it was pretty cloudy and wet. I am ready for sunshine and spring time!

We are trying to take advantage of this slower paced life that Corona Virus has caused. Homeschool group activities have been canceled, church activities have been cancelled, our convention was even cancelled so we have played board games, watched movies and enjoyed slow dinners at the table. We have baked more and read more. We are staying close to home and keeping clean and separate. I hope you are all taking advantage of the slowness and finding ways to enjoy peace in the middle of chaos.

Be still. Trust. Have faith. God is in control.

Mig the Brave

Mig is one of the bravest kids I know. This little man has faced surgeries every year for the past three years to remove a mouth growth that keeps coming back.

We have found out that the growths are caused by a virus strand and that he was old enough this time to try a vaccine to help build his immunity against the virus. He took the shot like a champ!

After each surgery we hold our breaths waiting for the biopsy results. Each time we have been told that, though the chances are small, this virus does cause cancer and so we wait, praying for a clean biopsy.

Mig's latest surgery was on the morning of February 20th. He was not scared or anxious. He was just a little discouraged that the growth had come back. The surgery went well and the doctor is hopeful that she got it all. On February 24th we got the results back with the news we were hoping for:

The biopsy was clean!

Now we are praying that his body will fight off any virus left and that he will not have any more growths appear.

Valentine's Day 2020

We had a fun Valentine's Day and we girls were super spoiled by Daddy.

Mig and Faith were able to attend a homeschool Valentine's party through the association.

They did a gift exchange instead of dozens of paper cards and candies. It was so fun!

They did a left/right passing game and everyone came home with a valentine gift.

At home we had a spaghetti dinner and then played Valentine Scattergories and Don't Eat Pete! It was a fun day celebrating love!

Homeschool Field Trip

Dallas has a super cool new museum! It is the ICR Discovery Center and it made for an exceptional field trip!!

We went with our homeschool association that is full of some of our favorite friends!!

The ICR Discovery Center is a Science and Earth History Museum with a Creation viewpoint.

Creationists do believe in dinosaurs, we just do not believe the timeline modern science gives the dinosaurs and the ICR gives detailed scientific proof for the creationist timeline over the modern timelines.

The basis for belief for creationists is the Genesis account of creation. Creationist believe there was a literal 6 days of creation. I love these canvas artwork depicting the 6 days of creation.

My favorite part of the museum was the historical figures and Christian Scientist rooms.

The museum has a cool interactive exhibit on creation. Then you walk into the garden of Eden.

There is also a Noah's Ark display and an ice age exhibit that are super cool!

The tower of Babel:

And the Empty Tomb.

I am looking forward to visiting the museum again!
