Our kids have been part of the AWANA program since around 2011 and love being part of this group!
Awana is an evangelical ministry that provides Bible-based evangelism and graded discipleship resources for children and teens ages 2–18. The name Awana is an acronym for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed,” which comes from their key verse: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, KJV). The goal of Awana is to “reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world” by making one disciple at a time.
At the beginning of May we were able to participate in the end of year AWANA awards.
To be awarded the kids have to finish their handbooks which helps them memorize many verses and also to study about global mission work. Memorizing is NOT easy for Faith, but she completed her book and is busy trying to catch up from last year's COVID shortened year. She is in the T&T (Truth and Training) Girls group.
Mig also received his award. Mig is part of the Trek group.
Selah received her first high school award - their group is called Journey.
AWANA is also intentional on training the kids to become servant leaders. Gabe and Selah lead music and help out with the youngest AWANA group called Cubbies.
