The Grand Prix race day finally arrived!!
I am always so amazed by the creativity of the racers!
Mig's race was first. Here he is with his police car and his friend Judah with the Jonah in the whale car:
Unfortunately, his police car wouldn't have done well in a speedy chase. He had a lot of fun, though!
Selah's group was next.
Some daddies jumped in last minute to help out. Daddy helped organize the kids as they walked up for their turn.
Selah's car won a few heats, but also was not a super speedy car. She was very sad when she did not race well. Poor baby.
Faith could hardly wait for her turn! The last group to go is the oldest of the AWANA kids. Adults with club members or AWANA helpers can also participate in this race. Many times parents or grandparents will enter a car for the kids too young to race on their own. PopPop has raced with one of our kids for the last three years. Our little-ests have loved racing with PopPop. Gabe, Faith (with PopPop), and Byron all raced in this one.
She dressed to co-ordinate with her car. Too cute!
Neither Faith or Byron's car were very fast. BUT Gabe's car came in 4th place!!
Here is a video of the races:
When all of the races were over, they presented the trophies. There were trophies for first, second and third place in each race for speed. Each division also gets a first, second and third place in AWANA Theme (having something to do with AWANA, the Bible, or Christianity) and Craftsmanship.
Gabe received 2nd place in AWANA Theme for his division!
Faith received 1st place for Craftsmanship!!
They all had a fun time!
